Terms of service

You upload photographs of collectible items. We remove the background, place each item on a white square at a consistent size, let you group the photographs of one physical piece together, name them, and export the results as image files and a spreadsheet.

It is a tool for preparing images and file names. It does not appraise, authenticate, grade or value anything, and it does not list anything for sale on your behalf.

You need an account, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Sign-in is by emailed link or Google, so keep control of that email address. Tell us at hello@thecoinhq.com if you believe someone else has access. You must be 18 or over.

You keep every right you had in the photographs you upload and in the images we produce from them. We claim no ownership of either.

You give us permission to store, copy and process your photographs only so far as is needed to run the service for you. That permission ends when you delete the files or close your account. We will not use your photographs to train any model, and we will not publish them.

You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's rights.

• Upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to use.
• Use the service to help misrepresent an item to a buyer.
• Try to reach another customer's account, files or data.
• Resell or rebrand the service as your own.
• Automate access in a way that degrades the service for other people.

Pricing is set out on the pricing page. You are charged per item, meaning one physical piece however many photographs you took of it. An item counts once, when you first export it; exporting it again is free.

Card payment is not currently switched on. While that is the case, any paid arrangement is made directly by email and nothing renews automatically. When card payment is introduced we will tell you before it applies to you.

We may change prices. Existing arrangements keep their price until the end of the period already paid for.

We do not promise the service will be available without interruption.

Worth being direct about: image processing currently runs on hardware we operate rather than an always-on data centre, so uploads are sometimes queued and processed later rather than immediately. Your files are safe while queued. If you need a guaranteed turnaround time, ask us first, because right now we cannot offer one.

Background removal is automatic and imperfect. We flag cuts that look wrong, but the check is advisory and it will both miss problems and raise false alarms. Some flagged images are perfectly good; some unflagged ones are not.

You are responsible for looking at every image before you use it, and for everything you publish or say about an item in a listing of your own.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Signal Grove Digital and its owners, officers, employees, contractors and suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost sales, or lost or corrupted data.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case those exclusions do not apply to you.

We take reasonable care, but this is not a backup service. Keep your original photographs somewhere you control. Use Download all to keep your finished images.

You may stop using the service and ask us to close your account at any time. Export anything you want to keep first; on closure we delete your photographs, batches and items within 30 days.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account without cause we will refund any unused prepaid amount.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction.

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will email you before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept it. See also our Privacy and Refunds pages.
